The 2008 baseball All-Star game is being held on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. I grew up in that stadium having gone to 10-15 games annually there between ages 8 and 15. As the years go on, you’re bound to lose some of your favorites, but one guy I really learned to appreciate was Bobby Murcer. This guy just simply loved being a Yankee and became an excellent broadcaster over the last decade. Well he lost his battle with brain cancer today and well, it just plain sucks. He eulogized Thurman Munson back in ‘79 and was the only player to play with both Mantle and Mattingly. He bridged the gap from the Yankees of old, to the Yankees of new. He’ll be missed (and I also hate when they’ll show all the cancer-esque pictures of him in the coming days).

A Dear friend and a man for all seasons.
I could relate numerous occassions where he displayed
the inate kindness that inherently defined him as a human being.
To have known him was to be elevated yourself by his
unassuming manner and his focus on lifes spiritual elements.
May Heavens doors open wide for you.
