…same Thursday game. Loose horrendous, too aggressive player in seat one UTG comes in for a raise of $15, I call with a meager K,5 diamonds and player behind, makes it $45….call by original raiser and I reluctantly come along for the ride. Flop, a pretty 6d,9d,10c. Check, check, and then button bets out $60, call, and with now about $200 in the pot, I call. Turn, 7d, bingo. Oddly enough UTG now goes all in for about $250. I just call (hoping to bring the button along), but he folds. I announce flush and UTG announces, “I’ve got outs”. The words weren’t even out of his mouth when the 10d hits the river! Homey, had pocket 8’s with the 8 of diamonds and hit his straight on the turn. But a smart player would’ve put at least one of us on the flush draw. Plus, I had the 5 of diamonds, one of his straight flush draw outs. The ol’ 2%! For a tidy $800 pot!
And the worst part is I know those chips would never leave the table with him….they’d be spewed through the remainder of the table within the next sixty minutes. Just plain Yuck!
An alternate version of this hand from the perspective of the player on the button… No offense intended!!!
I’m on the button and I watch the resident madman three seats to my left (I really need to change seats) raise to $15 under the gun for about the fiftieth time tonight. New guy from Atlanta calls and it folds around to me. I look down and see two black queens and decide to isolate the ATM, so I pop it to forty five. Naturally, maniac comes along and country boy calls while mumbling something about manking or yanking someone (no one really knows what this yokel is talking about half the time.)
Flop comes out ten high with two diamonds and a possible straight draw for captain crazy cards UTG – 6d,9d,10c. Checks around to me and I lead out for about half the pot. Maniac calls and Atlanta thinks for a second and makes the call. Turn brings a seven of diamonds and UTG insta-shoves for about $250. Atlanta waits for a bit and smooth calls. Tough to lay down an over pair here, but I notice that Atlanta didn’t say anything about food when he made his call (there’s a tell I think I’m getting on this guy – sometimes when he makes biggish bets, he says something about biscuits or biscuits and gravy, maybe he’s just hungry,) so I think he’s strong here and lay down.
Atlanta turns over K5 of diamonds – cracker called my preflop reraise with King Five!!! I think this guy must secretly be from Jersey! He got his though. Crazy man turned over a pair of 8’s with the 8 of diamonds and caught his one outer on the river for a straight flush!
Evening ended well enough after the excitement. Atlanta stayed quiet after that and eventually the madman bled off most of his chips and I caught most of them.
Touché! Very nice.
“Country.”
Rick’s about as country as Donnie Osmand.
Thanks big’in.
